N is for No

N is for No

October 27, 2020

This week Liz & Vince tackle the art of saying ‘no’. As highly ambitious and driven individuals, it can be tempting to say yes to every opportunity that presents itself. The downside to saying yes, especially when we really mean no, is that we end up stretching ourselves too thin causing long term resentment and burnout. While it can seem selfish to say no, being choosy with where you invest your limited time and energy is the secret to being available for bigger and better opportunities. In fact, what is selfish is when we know we want to say no but instead opt to repeatedly push things out, even though we have no real intention of ever following through.

Gary Vaynerchuk himself identifies his own difficulties in saying no as The Yes Virus, which “is when you want to say yes to everything, when you feel like you can do everything, and most of all you don’t want to let people down, or you just want to check off a lot of boxes or accomplish a lot of things. Maybe you just wanna call it “big eyes”; you feel like you can consume all the chocolate cake.” Liz & Vince know The Yes Virus well, but both are learning the importance of saying no and the amazing impact it can have on productivity and mental wellbeing.

In today’s episode you will learn:
  • The pitfalls of over-extending yourself
  • The impact that goal-setting has on time, energy management
  • How to determine when to say NO…
  • ...and when to say YES!

Scaling Your Business & Providing Massive Value w/ Bjork Ostrom of Food Blogger Pro

October 6, 2020

This week Liz and Vince interview Bjork Ostrom from Food Blogger Pro to talk about his unique journey from non-profit educator to food and tech CEO. Bjork loves to find ways to maximize potential - of people, of technology, of life. In 2010 when his wife Lindsay started Pinch of Yum, a popular food blog, they decided to do just that - maximize its potential. A decade later, their suite of businesses, TinyBits, is designed to share what they've learned with other food bloggers.. It’s important to note that Bjork is an admittedly terrible chef.

Bjork Ostrom is always learning; he’s great at articulating his lessons and kindly shared so many with Liz & Vince, including:

  • Bjork’s advice on scaling from side-hustle to full blown business
  • Bjork & Lindsay’s unique approach to entrepreneurship
  • The importance of adapting your message for your audience
  • How to preserve your company culture during growth
  • Behind-the-scenes look at TinyBits’ operational roles
